Mountain View County Council approved on Wednesday by a 4-2 vote to redesignate the land that houses the Aurora Medical Marijuana facility, northwest of the Village of Cremona.
The approval changes the land designation from Agricultural zoning to Direct Control District.
Under a Direct Control District, Council is the approving authority for land-use redesignation and for development permits.
The company's proposal is to significantly expand the current 55,000 square foot facility. The two-phase expansion will increase the facility by 638,438 square feet.
The next step for the company is the development permit application, which will be heard by Council once it is received.
Under the terms of the approved Direct Control District, Aurora can begin work on site preparation before they have a development permit in place but with no guarantees that the development permit will be approved.
