Today's trading is a prime example

Today's trading is a prime exampleof why short selling of any kind should be totally prohibited without exception and be seriously enforced just like insider trading. while I get cheap shares to buy your average retail investor gets hijacked by the banks and venture funds.  The exceptions for MM should NOT be allowed and the rubbish they feed you about making the market more fluid is toal nonsense.

Once or twice a year they select those companies that are vulnerable to this sort of attack - such as PLI and do their self enriching business that rapes the smal public investor. Nakes shorts or not - they should both be banned. The only way to sell a share should be if you own it!  The combination of short selling amd margin is doubly devastating to the small retail investor. He is typically forced to sell at the low of the market created by the short seller. His loss is the venture fund profit.

Serious, strict legislation is required to stop this practice. Of course the monied venture funds, MMs and banks and institutions will lobby fiercly against such a law and float all sorts of nonsensical theories as to why short selling helsp the market and the small retail investor by crating fluid markets. Hogwash! Yor elected MP needs to be pressured to get this done - it will be an uphill battle against the monied interests arrayed against it.
