I'm a chemist, and saying that PBI-4050 is simply an analogue of PhenylAcetic acid is irrelavent. Aspirin is as simple and we (well Bayer) are stil selling up to 120 billions 300mg pills a year.
The human body couldn't care less how complex a molecule is! As long as it has a beneficial effect, it's great. PBI-4050 has been filed for patent in 2014 and it's covering a list of possible analogues on R and Q positions. As you know the filing of patents is not to explain the MoA, it's to make sure you are not going to work for years on something that has been discovered/used already in the past!
They way PL responded to his question, on the AD I think he is well aware about his goal.
And btw Sky, companies does not announced or advertized received patents. This is all done in the background quietly
