RE:RE:RE:Where is the mine?calgarytrans, besides current potash prices hurting the progress of all the greenfield potash hopefuls, a secure water source is absolutely imperative.
WPX plan to use treated water from Reginas waste water facility, which is a very novel idea, however it is expected to cost $65 million I believe to build the infrastructure required from Regina to the Milestone project.
Even with the expected decreases in the volume of water required due to the new techniques being attempted, I would assume WPX will still build a pipeline capable of supplying the original volumes predicted.
What is very interesting here, is all of the following greenfield hopefuls are relying on technology not yet proven in Saskatchewan.
WPX - horzontal laterals
GSP - horizontal laterals
EPO - I believe they too are looking at downsizing and trying a horizontal trial as well
KRN - solution mining of carnalitte, sot sylvinite, as the previous 3 will be mining.
Should be very interesting to see who strikes the hot iron first, as the premise behind the green eco friendly mining techniques apply to all 4 of these projects, if the technology works.
