Even though I got my toes a little wet with this one at $3, I believe this will drop to $1.25 as valuations are crazy and because short term speculators misjudged this one for a quick buck. Also CGC is in very dangerous territory and I expect a huge pullback for them, and for that sentiment to spill over into the whole sector. This is the 3rd significant spike for this sector since 2014, I expect many more but right now a healthy correction is needed before I put some big $$ into EMC - under $2 is where I'll start accumulating.
I've made good $$ with CGC and EMH, but the most important part of a company is management and EMC by far has the best credentials to turn EMH into a very successful company. There's approximately 35 licenced marijuana plays in Canada, some say it's a crowded field but after researching the management teams I'd be surprised if more than half survive into 2018. Most of the teams have little to no experience in building a successful company and that to an investor should be a red flag imo. EMC on the other hand is Canada's only marijuana play that has a big pharma CEO as president - definitely a confidence booster!
Even though big pharma managed to keep marijuana a schedule 1 for awhile longer in the U.S. they know it's only a matter of time before demand for their synthetic drugs decreases substantially. The pharmaceutical side will be the biggest market in the marijuana market in 5 years time - that's why EMC will be the place to be ;)
Big pharma spent $880 million to promote opiates and fight the legalization of marijuana
Big pharma, tobacco, and liquor will need a strategy to compensate for their dwindling bottom line brought on by a truly remarkable plant. There definitely will be a feeding frenzy amongst these players as there becomes no doubt left that recreational marijuana use becomes legal in Canada.
Also I believe the numbers for marijuana users are significantly underestimated and will actually rise substantially as extracts and other forms will be adopted by those that do not like to smoke it. Colorado's marijuana industry passed $1 billion in revenues in the first 10 months of 2016 thus increasing approx 20% since 2015. This Canadian marijuana industry is going to be HUGE!
