Social license

Social licenseFriedland has stressed getting a social license to operate in any country, and particularly in Africa or as he noted-Mongolia. The DRC needs to produce minerals to earn foreign exchange to raise the boats of the citizens to a decent standard of living. The anti malarial program, the reconstruction of the power plants, the training of the workforce, all of these actions are of benefit to the DRC as well as for the mining operations. Even if Kabila is ovethrown in a bloody coup-  ( unlikely as he controls the army) the incoming regime has to keep the mines going. Friedland has been smart enough to align Ivanhoe with Gecamines at Kipushi and Zijin at Kakula/Kamoa. I hope there is no civil unrest that  results in uncertainty as to continuous progress towards production for both of Ivanhoe's DRC projects.
