RE:some dirt on diamonds

RE:some dirt on diamondshey silver,

The flaw in your argument is that Anglo has barely owned De Beers. It has only been a few years...so the investment gains of Anglo over a couple of decades is a bit irrelevant.

That being said...historically the retail market has been left out of big investments in diamond mining at all. It has all been family or country ownership.

De Beers was privately owned for a very very long time.
Alrosa was/is russian owned and has had a snippet of it IPO'd to the russian stock market...but I don't think I would consider that even retail.

So, what is left after that? There has been very little pure play big diamond investments to invest in over the last 50 years.

Chidliak is a pure play investment right now...but how long that lasts? I have no qualms that I will actually be able to invest in Chidliak as it goes into production. Probably will be gobbled up by someone bigger.
MPV is a silent invester in Gahcho Kue with dreams of stamping their name on some diamonds and marketing them as MPV.
Renard is a now a pure play. Was half government and is now still go ta 20% stream attached to it.

DDC is the closest thing that retail could actually invest in over the last decade plus.
To look at how that has faired...one would need to go back to the shareprice and make sure to add in all dividends over the years to see where it has done well.
I'm sure the best years was when Diavik was open pit. The money coming out of that must have been insane.

It would be nice to JV Chidliak so we (some of us) can stick around and see the whole program amped up and see what mother nature gives Chidliak in the next 5 years.
I don't think JV is the preferred path for some of the majors....but we will see. I think they would rather gobble it all up and leave maximum potential for themselves.

LONG...PGD
