RE:Lithium Demand Increasing
RE:Lithium Demand IncreasingYes Target10, that's exactly what I have concluded (ability of large producers like Albemarle to ramp up supply is constrained).
In my opinion, in addition to the lithium supply from the 50+ year producing Silver Peak brine lithium mine that is expected to experience a shrinking lithium resource over the coming decade or so, I think a good chunk of the lithium supply to Tesla-SolarCity will arise from the exponential lithium developments and findings that are being realised East & SouthEast of the Albemarle brine lithium mine. The new lithium findings in this lithium hub area are materialising quite quickly in a relatively short time span, that is, lithium findings of excellent grade or concentration either comparable or exceeding the Albemarle Nevada lithium operations.
Some notable new Nevada 'brine' lithium findings are Pure Energy and Advantage Lithium (not surprising a new lithium producer Orocobre has moved quickly to own a 32% stake in "Advantage").
As well, also in the vicinity of the Albemarle operations, Pure Energy, Cypress, Noram and SRJ appear to be at the beginning stages of developing a "surface" lithium resource of elevated concentration levels in the clays where a high degree of success has recently been achieved in the lithium extraction from the surface clays.
No doubt, Albemarle or some other global lithium conglomerate will someday own it all.
However, before that happens, further development work is required (brine & surface clays), so, it's not surprising to see a relatively new upstart lithium "producer" like Orocobre take a significant position in Advantage Lithium that is gaining a presence in the Nevada Clayton Basin, already with a strong measure of success in its borehole drilling program.
