RE:Sometimes walls are fake.....
Yeah it's not uncommon to see big walls with no intention of selling or buying.  It's called spoofing - which is illegal but still practiced.  I've always been a longer term investor but back in 2010 I tried day trading in the hot pm sector - I witnessed massive walls put up almost always on the sell side, thus forcing sellers to sell below that wall and buyers wondering why someone would want to sell?  It works well in de-stabalizing investor confidence if they pay too much attention to it.  Watching a hot market on live level 2 is crazy, especially if the company has a significant amount of outstanding shares.  A few years back I was day trading Seabridge gold and in one day watching live level 2 it traded over 46 million shares for no reason, all those shares were small ones of 100-500 shares - it was nuts!   It later came out that HFT trading had taken over and gone crazy.  High Frequency Trading is responsible for 70% of all stock the markets volume - I believe the only market not infected is the CSE.   Day trading and swing trading is too time consuming and stressfull compared to picking a solid company in a hot market that has the potential to be worth billions in the coming years.
