Absolutely true. In fact much of my excess (that is over benchmark) success depends on it. Over the many decades of investing I have come to realize some conventional ways of thinking are wooly. Like sell to book a gain. The gain is there regardless. It can be gone tomorrow too, but if one is investing in an entity at a reasonable price making a reasonable product with reasonable chances to still be in business decades from now, and reasonable chances to earn a good long term return, then who cares? I think BBD meets this test. It met it even better at $0.72. My recent buys were at $0.92 and $1.05 IIRC, with no a activity since. If it gets to $3 of $4, it will start to be uncomfortably large in my portfolio, and will feel pressure to sell some. But in the mean time, no need to sell to fool my brain into thinking I have a gain. It is there already any time SP is over $2.04.
