Ramman, Re: the land saleThe recent transactions reported were British Columbia land sales, -and the first of the year for that province. The TD Flash Note article of January 20th/17 supplies a pertinent map of that area and helpfully lists on that map historical purchases going back to 2014. The area in question straddles the B.C./Alberta border, roughly between -the Pouce Coupe area on the Alberta side and the Dawson locale on the British Columbia side.
In isolation it is difficult to draw any conclusions from a single land sale. But in the context of 2 or 3 years (helpfully supplied by the TD report) it becomes an entirely different matter and reveals this locale to be
quite the hotbed of interest these last few years
and still is!!! Perhaps some will remember that Leucrotta sold a parcel of its land privately in that area for 80 million in May of 2015. That turned a lot of heads. Some company was well heeled and chasing liquids which is precisely the lure of the geology in this region.
Funny thing about land sales. There is always the lure of greener pasture just over the hill that stirs the restless soul. “Finding the gold” is part of it but you must appreciate the common sense of it all in the competitive context, -that when you see the price of liquids and condensates rising, owning the properties that have them gives you excellent leverage to those rising prices.
As yet no buyer is listed for the 2 parcels purchased in the recent B.C. land sale. Sometimes in auctions companies wish to remain anonymous and appoint a proxy to handle their bids. It may be some time before we know the buyer. I don’t think Birchcliff has any sections in British Columbia but it certainly has land right on the AB/B.C. border. Given the fact it has repaired its balance sheet owing to the ECA purchase there is no reason to think it couldn’t be them doing some of the buying.
The wisest of the wise at least that I know of re: land purchases would be
efficientmyass. He occasionally posts on the LXE and BIR sites but seems lately to be on sabbatical. I’m sure he drops in from time to time just to read the posts. Perhaps we could appeal to him for some comment on these recent land purchases in B.C. or say something regarding Birchcliff’s land package right on the Alberta border in the Pouce Coupe area. That would be directly east on the Alberta side of Tourmaline’s properties. Be generous with us
efficient we would greatly appreciate your comments.
By the way here is the TD Flash info and map that you can see for yourself.
