BOMBARDIER IN THE UNITED STATES
Bombardier has a long history of investment and success in the United States. We employ thousands of Americans across the country who are manufacturing and servicing planes and trains. We provide high-skill, well-paying jobs in the communities in which we operate, and we contribute to the U.S. export base. Our products, even those assembled outside of the country, use significant amounts of U.S. produced parts and support thousands of additional U.S. jobs down the supply chain.
Our in-service product base provides vital transportation options for U.S. citizens coast to coast. 3,750 of our aircraft and 5,000 of our rail vehicles move people each day. Highlights of our U.S. impact:
- Nearly 7,000 employees across 17 states.
- $3.0 billion in business for U.S. suppliers across 48 states (2015).
- $3.3 billion in export sales from U.S. activities (2011-2015).
- $2.0 billion invested in U.S. operations (2011-2015).
- 4 manufacturing sites (Wichita, KS; Plattsburgh, NY; Pittsburgh, PA – two sites).
- 28 service centers; 2 parts distribution centers; 2 component repair facilities; 1 equipment refurbishment center.
Aerospace Activities
Bombardier’s installed aircraft fleet in the U.S. totals approximately 3,750 aircraft, including more than 1,300 Q-Series and CRJ Series aircraft in service with Delta, United, American, Alaskan airlines and other operators, and more than 2,450 business jets. The latter includes 115 aircraft adapted for missionized applications with the U.S. Air Force, the Army National Guard, the U.S. Coast Guard, Customs and Border Patrol, and the Federal Aviation Administration.
We build our Learjet line of light business jets at our 1.24 million-square-foot production facilities in Wichita, Kansas. Bombardier’s Global Flight Test Center, also in Wichita, is the center of excellence for development and certification flight testing of all Bombardier aircraft. Established in the early 1990’s, the Center has so far conducted over 16,000 flights, logging over 36,000 flight hours.
Our network of U.S. aftermarket service centers includes Tucson, Arizona; Bridgeport, West Virginia; Wichita, Kansas; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Macon, Georgia and Hartford, Connecticut. One of our two global parts distribution centers for aircraft is based in Chicago, Illinois. Our U.S. business and military aircraft training center is located in Dallas, Texas.
Bombardier is one of the most prolific generators of new aircraft technologies and products in the world. Since 1989, we have launched an unprecedented 28 new aircraft. We are building on that heritage today as we develop four leading-edge aircraft – the CSeries 100 and 300 commercial airliners, as well as the Global 7000 and Global 8000 long-range business jets.
The Bombardier CSeries family of commercial aircraft redefines operational flexibility, cost effectiveness and passenger comfort in the 100- to 149-seat class. In the United States, suppliers from 20 states account for significant percentage of the CSeries Bill of Materials, including engines, braking systems, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, avionics, interiors and other critical components and systems.

The Global 7000 and Global 8000 business jets will deliver unprecedented levels of performance, flexibility and comfort. U.S. technology and expertise play key roles in these next-generation products.
