Hudson's Bay Co, or HBC, is a Canadian retail business group. The company operates department stores throughout Canada, Belgium, Germany, and the United States under various banners. These banners include Saks Fifth Avenue, Hudson's Bay, Lord & Taylor, and Off 5th in North America and Galeria Kaufhof, Galeria Inno, and Sportarena in Europe. HBC also has investments in real estate joint ventures. In Canada, it has partnered with RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust in the RioCan-HBC joint venture.

RE:Props to you guysI think the nature of the stock itself might have something to do with it.  HBC is less of a speculative play (while, at least until recently) and was/is considered a standard bricks and mortar blue chip dividend paying stock (at least until recently).  

WRT where we might be headed from here...I am on the fence as to whether short covering will push enough against the sea change of retail.  I read an article on CNBC last night about the likes of Burberry and Gucci starting to feel the impact of the proliference of Amazon's e-tailing.

HBC's real estate holdings is what makes it different than Sears and company.  I look to Canadian Tire as an example that somehow was able to both spin off a REIT as well as make some changes to its stores and e-commerce.  I sold CT around 100 dollars a year ago thinking I had done well.  Last I looked it was around 170.  Perhaps there is hope for HBC if they adopt this model.

Time will tell.
