IF those news releases were fake then Tom is going to be charged.  Simple as that.  Part of your obligation as a CEO of a company is not only proper governance but accurate reporting of finance certified by an accountant to the government and exchange.  IF he was lying this entire time the government will come after him as well as the exchange and he will be charged and never be able to run another company again.

That's why I doubt his NRs were fake.  Plus if I was going to buy a company and I know you've been lying the entire time I would no longer have any interest in buying from you.  I think people are upset and are thinking illogically which is understandable.
