I believe you're selling us short with this, as the tested values of Lithium are mg/L. This is not in Lithium Carbonate form; this is the concentration of all lithium that exists in solution. Thus, when you do your calculations, you have to consider molar mass to get true values, and lithium has a low molar mass, meaning it makes up a small percent of the chemical compound's molecular weight. Thus, you have to consider that for each kg of lithium carbonate, only 18.78% of that kg is actual lithium, meaning that you produce 5x as much carbonate. They stated only 40% recovery of lithium, but did not say what the mass of lithium carbonate was! Hence the ~5x multiplier, and much larger figure$
