RE:Re. increased shorts...............I bet a big part of the shorts are the 2 companies that invested in LAC.

It is call arbitrage.

Since they are getting shares at .85 they can safely short LAC for example at 1.05 and make a easy 20% on millions of shares. It is basiclly free money for them.
