The two to four month option strictly has to do with pit slope and if they can get some more out without hitting maximum strip ratio.
The 6 to 7 million tonnes might just be low grade material that has been stockpiled for possible end of life mill recovery. Mining would stop..but milling would keep going.

chidliak stockpiles Victor is a clear example..you process the high value material first..but keep a low value stockpile available to feed the mill if it gets hungry and in the end, it will be a mill with an empty stomach to load up with low value material....if the low value material can pay for the milling cost itself.
