The best geophysical technolgy for finding kimberlites is an airborne gravity gradiometer. BHP had one, and De Beers had one (before it crashed). Now they are being commercialsed by third parties.

The second best is the full tensor airborne magnetometer. De Beers is probably stuck funding that technology as part of a commercial agreement, and Anglo may find it useful. Not a holy grail technolgy but an incremental step forward.
