CRE are Real in Montreal Hospitals

In a piece of La Presse this morning, a journalist shows how the number of CRE infection cases has jumped from a range of 40-45 in the previous years in the Montreal area to more than 180 in 2016 with a mortality rate of 10%.  Most of them are connected to strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae, a bacteria that strives in the guts where the the gastroentologists like to insert their instruments.  From the piece it is not possible to make a direct link between the scopes and the spead of the CRE.  Let's say it would have to be watched closely.  Unfortunately, for having dealt with them before, the people at the Health agency at the source of the newspaper piece are hopeless.  As seen with previous posts here, there is a systemic understanding between the hospitals and the health agencies not to say much.
