The Johnson Controls/ AquaMetals deal......is exactly the kind of deal AMY is looking to get for its recycling tech. You might think the Lead Acid recycling doesn't matter so much anymore because of the EV revolution underway but it matters more than ever because for every EV sold, that takes away the need to remake one toxic lead acid battery. But you still want to recover all that valuable material for use in another application. So think of how valuable the know-how will be for recycling far more complex Lithium Ion units, from discharging, to disassembling packs, disassembling modules, then cracking the cells open to collect all the materials, and then filter them all out (not just recovering one metal like lead) into new reusable material. This isn't going to happen overnight, but there is no denying that progress is being made.
