RE:Dodd Frank

RE:Dodd FrankThe Kivu provinces are isolated from the rest of the country. There is no real terrestrial link between Eastern Congo and the rest of the country. During the previous war/rebellion, the Katanga province has not really been affected. First Quantum made the discoveries of Longshi and Frontier and was able to invest safely in the country (at that time).

The Dodd-Frank section on conflict minerals has been instrumental in the development of international measures to fight conflict minerals. These measures are likely to survive the end of Dodd-Frank. Most of the 3Ts (tantalum, tin and Tungsten) production in Eastern Congo is certified and should remains so. The illegal production of gold by artisanal miners should continue but should not impact in a big way to the political balance in Eastern Congo.
