win, place or show The upcoming 2017 Program is for drilling, more bulk sampling, and pre-feasibility (PFS) studies. Those are the priorities. No permanent road work is required - yet. No permanent cart path before the PFS horse just yet?
Now is the time to strengthen the PGD racehorse. FOCUS on the prize racehorse first, and THEN build the racetrack. A #1 prize horse will attract far more betting money with its much better PFS odds.
To minimize mining costs, PGD needs the PERMANENT road to be built prior to construction of the MINE . . . NOT PRIOR TO 2017 drilling, more bulk sampling, and pre-feasibility (PFS) studies.
.....
The capital costs to build this mine are estimated to be C$ 434.9 million, including C$ 56.7 million in contingency. Pre-production capital includes the construction of a 160-kilometer (100 miles) road to Iqaluit. To advance Chidliak further, Peregrine plans to complete a C$10 million to C$15 million drilling and bulk sampling program at the project during the 2017 winter season. The objectives of the proposed program are to collect additional kimberlite from CH-6 for micro-diamond sampling; and upgrade inferred resources at the CH-6 and CH-7 kimberlites to the higher confidence indicated resource category.

But to get the project up and running, the company needs to build a 160 km all-season road from Iqaluit to the site.
"The road in is a critical piece of infrastructure and we need that prior to commencement of construction to minimize our construction capital costs," said Peregoodoff.

In 2017, Peregrine Diamonds will spend between $15.5 and $17 million developing the Chidliak site and conducting additional bulk sampling and pre-feasibility studies.
That will mean reopening the groomed winter trail that Peregrine Diamonds has used in the past—maintained free of charge—and accessible to recreational users and hunters.
City councillors learned that Peregrine Diamond’s request to groom a road accessing the trail from within the municipality is currently before the city’s planning department.
In addition to the municipal access, Peregoodoff says the company will need a staging area to prepare and load supplies near the Road to Nowhere for approximately eight to 10 weeks.
