Recall that the Company is reducing costs to satisfy potential lenders/investors.

Yes, the Company's products have been selected, but to secure CONTRACTS the firm must demonstrate that it has the financial capability to deliver.  The Company will need to purchase materials and pay labor to meet any contract that may be signed in the future.

This is basic Business 101.  Complaining about management and directors without the full knowledge about what may be happening in the background is a waste of time.
