RE:RE:Jumpy88 I appreciate that were BAT to fail it would be positive for Birchcliff but I wouldn’t bet on it, given the sobering but articulate comments of Rep. Brady or Douglas-Holt Eakin. When you hear their interviews you get the sense that America isn’t just a thin red line but rather the depth reaches back many, many ranks. Nor did I fully appreciate all the bickering and animosity in the House, Senate and the executive branch these last 8 yrs. until I saw those interviews. The policy divide between the 2 parties was irreconcilable. BAT/tax cut will be a U-turn in policy. There won’t be a tax cut without the BAT and this was really what this election was all about, American jobs and repatriation of corporations and their overseas profits. The real question is what olive branch Americans might offer us as close ally and significant trading partner. One thing in our favor is the relative evenness of the ebb and flow of goods across our border. In many respects the 2 countries are joined at the hip and the Americans did say the Canada trade relationship only needed a little “tweaking”. But given the unknowns surrounding this legislation it may explain much of the Montney selling recently.
