gheets..., mbuch... totally disagree with your replies.
Your both politicaly oriented do-goodies favouring the laissez-faire, in time it (they) will work-out,
regardless of ability let them be ... proving you would never be capable of making good businees decisions but rather you both follow the trail of what is fed to you in media without question.
When a person ( CEO, Pres) runs a world class company it is necessary to have work class work ethic, procedures, people and remuneration.
Look at the massive improved profits $$ of CN, CP and soon to be CSX that Hunter creates by simply applying modern work methods, keeping the cream workers on.
Your whinning of low moral in Alberta Cn, Cp work yards are simply the spin-off of the new worker being put down by left over hanger-ons who have survived the Hunter modernization with pre-benefits of their union. Worst is the temp, private contractor employees who cant compare to Cn, Cp employees in job quarantee, remuneration..
If the CN., CP companies (international) didn't move forward smarten-up, modernize, change they loose in the big game of business and get taken out. Then many thousands more x-employees hit the ei-line., job banks.
Well if you have ever worked in the real world, you would know that fear and intimidation only goes so far in business, then you eventually start to lose good people too.
Our comments merely state that having turned CN and CP around operationally, the progression on increased performance will only go so far. Hunter's old school management style is just that, old school. He may turn around CSX like he did CN and CP, but that's all he is good for. He is not good for long term sustainability. I'm sure the culture is getting better at CN, and hopefuly CP eventually too with him gone now. I know people at CP and they already say it has changed somewhat, so hopefully Creel is not too much a chip off the old school block.
