RE:RE:RE:RE:NeuLion Q4 2017

RE:RE:RE:RE:NeuLion Q4 2017I agree with you on the revenue miss, I have to admit it was a lot worse then I thought it was going to be. With that being said, they are paying a fortune to have NHL on board and having many friends all over the USA I can assure you that the market for streaming NHL is not what you would think. Converting these streamers to paying clients is going to be the real test going forward. NHL's largest markets are New York, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Chicago, Vancouver. With those top 5, three of the top 5 markets are North of the border. Sure the NHL is a solid piece of the pie but look a the numbers.

2016 NHL playoffs ( in canada) - 60 percent drop in viewership (average 513,000) per game
English Premier Soccer On NBC - 514,000 average per game

The biggest Markets in the USA are college sports, football, baseball and baskeball. I personally do not know one person who would stream and pay for a hockey game. If its on TV they watch it. I also have plenty of english, spanish, portuguese friends who watch soccer religiously and would easily pay to watch there favorite team play.  Now Canada and USA have a massssivvvee amount of international soccer lovers who have a lot harder of a time watching sports over seas in live format. Would you rather convert 10% of 513,000 or 50% or higher of a smaller viewership actually paying for the stream. This is just my assessment of it.

In for the long hold.... even a clench
