Concerning the German giga factory, I have not seen specificly where they are using
Electrovaya's non NMP process. You seen very informed and I was wondering if
you had heard or read anything on the subject. I can't imagine them building
a toxic factory while having access to a safer and less expensive process.
How do you think Electrovaya will benefit financially or was this part of the
purchase deal that would allow the use? I read that they were going to use the
ceramic seperators.
Electrovaya wanted German government money to build the NMP free process. The automotive companies and the German government wanted the complete manufacturing of the batteries and battery packs made in Germany. It seems that Electrovaya got it's arm twisted and will be part of the plant that has "serial" production under one roof. I envision it as three or more joined buildings. Electovaya will have it's own building feeding battery cells or modules to the auto plants that assemble the packs. Anyway that is still down the road a ways. I don't expect to hear too much until June this year. Since Kamenz plant building is leased, I would assume that if Mercedes does not use Electrovaya battery cells fairly soon (say 2 to 3 years) that that facility will be closed.
