some general comments

some general commentsThere’s a lot of panic on the NG boards.  With the diversity of comments and everyone talking up their own book one wonders if anything can be gained by reading the posts, mine included.  But I’m dead sure many would not even turn a hair at the carnage if we had had much smaller positions. That’s definitely something to consider going forward, -that is if any of us are alive after being sent through this meat grinder feet first. (Humor)  The overweight position is definitely a man’s thing (maybe marketdiva would like to respond to that comment). Most probably it has some connection to our primitive fascination for the hunt and that it must be a white knuckle experience. 100 shares just doesn’t seem to cut it for any of us.
It reminds me of the Hemingway story of a soldier in the trenches under fierce shelling. On his knees and praying to God to spare him; he in return promised to change his life. When the shelling moved up the line and he was eventually furloughed back to Paris he didn’t tell anyone about his fervent prayers not even to the French hooker he took to his hotel room. The moral of the story as you can see is that we never change our spots.
I like Indicator’s idea of dividing his poke into 2 tranches. But I prefer rather to divide mine into 5 tranches and then only snipe at the market by buying 100 shares lots, -but only on days of decided weakness.  And if I don’t get to spend it all that means things are getting better. But if I do spend it all….. then you know what that means.

P.S. 1. Ramman1 interesting comment you have on Rawls. I never heard of the man until I was reading my daughter’s text book for a York U course.  I didn’t expect anyone to know his name. I could readily see the connection to the hubs when I began to write the post.
2. When do you think we will hear about the TRP auction, today or tomorrow?
3. V.PHM is “struttin its stuff”, -at least an hour ago.
