Gold Price Linked to Corn?

Gold Price Linked to Corn?Hey guys,

Looking at one-year prices for both gold and corn, I've noticed a slight correlation. I calculated the correlation coefficient to be 0.79. I am interested to hear from some of you on what you believe to be the drivers causing this? The price of gold seems to take a few months to respond to corn price changes; however, it follows corn price trends to a perfect T. With this knowledge, I've been trading gold using corn prices as an indicator of future gold prices. I would recommend you guys perform some of your own due diligence on this. Hope you guys find this information useful, good luck to all!
