It is significant that he made specific mention of this. It was a not-so-subtle and direct attack on previous management of the company. It was meant to indicate that a new era of management has arrived, and win, lose or draw, the stupidity that characterized the previous management is gone.
Anyone who knows anything about corporate jets, particularly those of the size of Concordia's, will tell you that they are ridiculously expensive to operate, and can rarely be justified on economic grounds. In this case, it was just an extension of Thompson's idiotic hubris.
