just curious as I have never shorted a stock...is there a one time fee to short or is it a fee every month/quarter/year? is it a % of the value of shorted stock or a flat rate? does the fee stay the same or vary with time/no of shorts? cheers Wide
You are joking. You spend time finding articles and post them, but don't know about shorting....right. Same price as a long. No fees for shorting. All depends on your brokerage. For instance, when I shorted FR.TO at $24.23 on August 2. My fees for shorting would have been the same as the long who bought those shares. Some brokerages charge 1cent/share to short or go long. Some charge $5 or $6.50 per trade whether it is long or short.
No difference in price between a long/short trade, there never has been. Is there a fee to hold fora long for x amount of time? You only have to pay the dividend if there is one. But most silver stocks have no dividend. That is why most banks don't get shorted unless there is a 2008/9 situation because they would have to pay the dividend. But you already knew this. Easier money to make on shorts than longs. Any good trader knows that it's easy to short off parabolic moves.
