Alberta' economy was in a total shambles long before the NDP took over.
After 20 plus years of Conservative mismanagement their deficit was huge in spite of the absolute best times in the oil markets. The NDP inherited a massive debt and shortfall from so called Con-sevatives. That's no reason for the NDP to make things worse of course, but they've not been given the same chance to screw things up like the Con-servative got.
