Buy them back with what?  Its balance sheet doesn't allow any flexiblity strategically.  The bondholders don't think they are get paid, what does that mean for the shareholders?  Now it is looking like even the secured bondholders are having their doubts.   If you think that the company will survive, why not chase the yield on the bonds? If you stay in the common shares hoping for a miracle, you may as well just throw your money away
