RE:RE:Purevap Process to produce Solar Silicon at an 82% discountAccording to the presentation on the HPQ website, the cash cost of Solar Grade Silicon is expected to be at least 82% less than existing processes.
This is going to be a major competitor to existing producers, bound to result in takeover bids in my honest opinion.
This could start happening pretty soon, maybe on high purity news, or for certain on pilot plant start up.

The lowest cost quoted on the presentation is the most recent for other technologies at $75 / Kg or $75,000 / ton, so a 10,000 ton plant using other technology would cost about $750 Million.
A Purevap plant of the same production capability is estimated at $4 / Kg = $4000 per ton, so a 10,000 ton Purevap plant would be around $40 Million.
A savings of over $700 million!
Existing facilities will become obsolete very quickly. It would be possible to build 18 X10KTPY Purevap plants for the same cost of a single 10KTPY plant of existing technology.
High takeover value is in the cards in my opinion.
