RE:RE:RE:@ Today Seymour Schulich Increases Ownership in Birchcliff Interesting, I had never really thought of that angle before. Deep pockets prop up the sp of one company , BIR for instance, so they can overpay for an acquisition, thus bailing out "deep pockets". BIR's sp naturally would drop but probably not down as far as it was before " deep pockets" propped it up. BIR gets a new toy, " deep pockets" recovers some money and the acquisition company gets some sleep... win win win.

Now back to reality, just cant see it happening. I dont know much about PGF but a quick look tells me this company is mismanaged bigtime and is probably carrying huge debt. I see no reason why BIR with its ultra smart mgmt would fall on its sword here. If ole Seymour is under water in his PGF position, I would imagine he would be WAY under water and there is no chance in hell BIR would overpay that much.

I fancy thinking the other way. Ole Seymour has done his DD and came to the realization, as have most of us on the BB, that BIR is on the fast track to making a lot of people a lot of money.
