Yes, there are companies that are licensed/approved by Resverlogix to sell non-pharmacutical grade (not for human use) apabetalone for research purposes only. Many companies with compounds in clinical trials do this. We've discussed this on this board before.
However, the amount of apabetalone needed for a cell culture study or a short-term pre-clinical study in a small animal model (i.e. mouse) is very small relative to the amount needed for a humans. Apabetalone in SUSTAIN, ASSURE and BETonMACE is given at 100 mg twice a day. That's 200 mg per patient per day. Out of eight companies I scanned online, the cheapest out of BioVision, Cayman Chemicals, MedChem Express, SantaCruz, MedKoo Biosciences, SeleckChem, Toronto Research Chemicals, and APExBIO, the cheapest I found was 50 mg for $350 USD. Do the math and you'll find that it is not practical to purchase apabetalone from one of these companies for a human study. Plus, it is likely not pharmaceutical grade and likely not meeting Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) requirements.
