CORRECTED-BRIEF-Air Canada announces departure of vice president & COO Klaus Goersch (April 3)
(In April 3rd brief, corrects designation in headline to COO from CFO)
April 3 (Reuters) - Air Canada:
* Announces departure of vice president & chief operating officer Klaus Goersch, effective from April 30, 2017
* Will announce Goersch's successor in due course Source text for Eikon: Further company coverage:
I was thinking the same thing the other day when I saw this, but if that's the case, this should be short-lived (IMHO). It is a rare organization (and I'd argue even "there is no organization") that really depends on one person. The perception might exist that the organization depends on one person (eg. Apple, Tesla), especially in the US (so as to justify the ridiculous pay packages), but Air Canada does not have such an iconic figure and to the limited extent that this person does exist in AC, it is Collin R. (the CEO). I think this is a speed bump and it totally sucks, but this should be short lived.
