the saving grace for the share price is two fold.i have discussed one.the second factor is oil.one of the largest components in cost has corrected over fifty percent in the 3 years.
from 2009 to mid-2014 times were pretty good for oil companies. The price of oil surged 130%. XOP a ETF that holds the largest oil companies gained 165%.then oil prices crashed. the price of oil is now down 57% from its june 2014 peak. its now hovers close to lows we haven’t seen since March 2009 during the worst of the financial crisis.

US oil production is still near an all-time high. the US energy Information administration  reports that US oil companies are producing 9.4 million barrels per day. thats near the peak US production reached in the early 1970s

conclusion-you will do well longer term here. as we move forward temptation will overtake many for profit looks better than a loss in any portfolio.yet i will hazard a guess that retail will sell early as most  investors do.thats fine. do what you must.
