RE:RE:fresh John Kaiser interview ... on Zinc While these Chinese pollution factors are valid and well formulated concerns, there just isn't any chance its going to play out the way you describe Blaze. Virtually everything the Chinese have been doing for 20+ years has been a long game designed to slowly but surely gain control of an ever increasing % of the crucial worldwide capital it takes to industrialize and stay industrialized. Commodities are a big part of that capital. They want to directly control the markets for all the key commodities from cradle to grave ( for zinc that means from in the ground to sale of refined product and even delivery to buyer).
They've supplied their factories domestically whenever they could becasue it was cheaper, they could control it, and pollution wasn't a concern previously.
They aren't about to give up on that dream just because of an increase in domestic cancer rates ;o). Sad but true. Instead, as their wealth, influence, GDP, etc. keep growing -> they'll simply start outsourcing thier mining and manufacturing activities ( pollution ) to now poorer nations. Diverting the problem. Thus thier acquisition stakes in companies like IVN focused in Africa and other 3rd world countries. Don't think for a second though that they are about to slow down their expansion \ industrialization plans. The material and attendant pollution feeding that expansion will just be generated elsewhere then the material shipped.
