RE:RE:RE:RE:Rec vs black market Sorry I had to stop at "1 pound per plant". Here's a post of mine from last week...
As a seasoned grower I can attest to this. Most amateur indoor grows under a 600hps are only yielding 2oz per plant. Now a pro growing with co2, 1000watts hps, hydro, and a high yielding strain (yield is also strain genetics dependant) could maybe bring in around 8oz's/half pound per plant, but that's about the most. Because of the limitations of indoor lighting, growing big plants isn't practical because after a certain plant height, the light can't penetrate deep enough to the lower part of the plant, and usually results in light airy buds for the bottom half. That's why most indoor grows use many more smaller plants, also known as SOG (sea of green). Having a short, but denser plant canopy is more efficient for indoor growing. You get the most, densest buds that way, and no energy and time wasted on airy buds. Only huge outdoor plants(like 8ft plants) of well grown, high yielding strains can even get close to 1kg per plant. And not every part of the world has a climate and environment to even make this possible during a summer grow season. But times are a changing, grow methods advancing, strain genetics being researched and developed, so maybe it won't be too long till 1kg yielding indoor plants are the norm. Lush223 wrote: Since we are on this topic, I wanna pose this "thought" to you guys. I'm loving the recent informative posts. I noticed nobody is talking about the issue that could have a colossal impact on marijuana companys sales. I believe the Liberals want to allow people to have for plants in their house???? Let's say we can all grow four plants in our home.Someone (not me of course ;-)) who knows what they're doing, growing pot indoors CAN produce up to 1 pound of processed bud, that's right 1 POUND PER PLANT. If I have 4 great plants that produce a bountiful harvest; well now I have 4 pounds of some sweet sweet bud. The average indoor grow can go from seedling to harvest from anywhere between 3 to 5 months. Let's round that to four months based on some sweet bulbs and other growing goodies. Now if I can successfully have ONLY TWO great harvests in one year that's giving me 8 pounds of processed green gold, not bad right. I'm lowballing 8 pounds as I am 100% positive that a guy could get THREE successful harvests in one year, if done properly. So that's 12 pounds of pot PER YEAR for those who are staying with me. The average joint is .5 to .7 grams (g), right consumers ;-) ? Let's be liberal and round that up to a nice 1 g per joint. There are 28 g in an ounce, but screw that we're going to talk poundage and joints. With the potency of pot today the average PHs are smoking anywhere from 3 to 6 joints a day (size dependent of course). So 1 pound is 16 ounces. 1 pound is 448g. Stay with me its gonna get juicy! Staying with the upper end of 6 joints per day - if I smoke six joints a day then in a (30 day) month that only comes out to 180 joints at 180 grams. I know you guys are super intelligent and can clearly see where I'm goin. Even with one plant you have more than enough for one joint per day for A YEAR. Let's stay focused. So every four months I get 448 grams X 4 plants = 1792 grams or 1792 joints!!!!! 1792 grams & 1792 joints X 3 = 5376 grams&joints. 5376 / 448 = 12 POUNDS per year. I'm not sure if anybody's got Snoop Dogg on speed dial to confirm my #'s but I do know 100% there's a few of you potheads on this board that can ;-) So you see the problem: if you and I are allowed to grow 4 plants in our home we sure as hell aren't going to need Aurora or any these other marijuana companies. Not to mention this opens the door to the temptation to trafficking. Under the old system prior to August 24, 2016 the marijuana for medical purposes regulations MMPR was a complete and utter disaster. Numerous individuals were licensed to grow in their own homes for example, let's say 23 plants well during the MMPR years there were TWO inspections in the province of Alberta. This led to countless abuses involving individuals exceeding their amount of plants, authorized possession and storage. Thank you Murphy's Law. This will happen again because what's stopping someone from growing 10 or 15 plants instead of four. Annnnnnnnnnnd what do I do with all that excess weed from these previous 2 examples, well you tell me $$$$$$. There are tons of news releases of cops arresting loads of these guys. Please socialists dont say the cops'll do inspections, too busy, undermanned. Bylaw nope. AGLC good luck. Health Canada baaaaa haaaaa haaaaaaa, tried and failed along with no money nor manpower. Gonna be interesting! I know some patients have advocated for their right to grow their own medicine, and Im cool with that however the opportunity/temptation for someone with bad intentions to illegally capitalize NEEDS to really be dealt with. This is definitely something that needs to be addressed at the federal level and/or the provincial government and I'll be writing my MP. Oh and until I get hinked up in hanging in with ACB. Best of luck to everyone.
