Why so many Bids?

Why so many Bids?Though my understanding is that there will be no further acceptance of offers for IRD beyond the $4.25 presented by WiLan (pending shareholder vote) I am quite interested in the number of bids at $4.22 given that the potential earnings on those purchases would be less than 1%. It wouldn't seen to make much sense to buy say 10000 shares to make $300 less commissions. Or am I missing something. Is someone trying to buy 2,000,000 shares to make $60000? If so, I take it there is 100% confidence the vote will pass. Makes me wonder where that bid was yesterday.
