Point #1. How would the company know a hedge fund has issued a report but has no details. With the drop it's obvious that the report is not favourable.  
Wonder if the Mr Citron or Shrikely or the chicken farmer's hedge fund is at it again, publishing false news and shorting. 

Point #3. Why not halt it and make that statement.
