Cream Filled TubeSteaks Smothered in Underwear… …strawberry mounds of love pudding, Foria, Mick, Krakens, ignoring Mick, saying we should ignore Mick while constantly talking about Mick, postmodern posts obliquely referencing my favourite company Canopy Growth, Mick, Starfishes and some Mick.
Postmodernism is inherently resistant to definition, however the most philosophically satisfying and closest approximation i’ve encountered is “An incredulity towards meta-narrative”. I tend to be somewhat anti-meta-narrative myself, and believe the more beautiful narratives arise organically and are the combination of many equally beautiful little narratives. Canopy Growth can be considered in this crazy light. Anybody with some knowledge of fractal theory or as much Bakerstreeet oil as i have in me may be digging my groove right now, but regardless of it’s intention or annoyingness, i digress, to the power of google-plex.
Today was interesting. I will preface the remainder of the following diatribe with the by now highly redundant, but still requisite “i know d1ck about sh1t”. That being said, one can still have an opinion about things they know naught of. It is likely, upon further consideration of that statement, that as the quantity and vehemence of opinion expressed by a given person increases, that likely their true knowledge of the topic is generally speaking proportionately lower. They are inversely proportionate. Is what i am trying to express. Unfortunately for anybody who’s made it this far, i am one of those people who feels the need to express their opinions on occasion, and as this is my party, and i’ll cry if i want to, anybody who has the lack of foreknowledge or judgement to read this missive to it’s ultimate conclusion did so of their own free will.
And now, for something completely different, i will get to the heart of the matter. Tweed Main Street.
When i first saw Tweed Main Street, i was somewhat bemused by it’s appearance. But i had a suspicion which didn’t fully reveal itself until the Craftgrow release.
Main Street is just the bones.
The most important thing was getting those bones together before anybody else did. It’s all about FIRST MOVER ADVANTAGE, and it can’t be underestimated when it comes to clutching for the golden ring. This is why we now say “I googled this” and why we all look at reviews on Amazon before we make purchases. (i do anyway). First mover advantage here may not be the ultimate factor when it comes to who’s top dog in the MJ space, but it’s gaddamned close. Canopy may not have even been the first company to realize it, as others are moving in the same direction. Consider Privateer with Leafley, Marley Naturals, and Tilray. Or good ole Chucky and company with CannaRoyalty etc. They’re all trying to open the biggest umbrella first so everybody who wants to be relevant flocks to them and they become the de facto go to source for everything Cannabis. So getting Tweed Main Street up and running was all important. The pretty flesh can be added later. The site is highly functional, and can be tweaked at will as time goes on, but it was first, and nobody can take that away from them. Canopy was first, as they have been from the beginning, as they’ve taken calculated risks all the way, and show no signs of diminishing at this point.
I had other things to say, but i’ve satisfyingly forgotten them. Happy Friday, and Mick, Mickety MIck, Mick.
