RE:RE:CNZ

RE:RE:CNZDo you not see the correlation between farms shutting down and the rise of larger scale farms?  The world is going to large scale corporate farms, the mom and pop operations are going belly up and either just closing down or selling out to the corporations.  That is where the increase in over-$500k operations comes from, not because it is a booming business and everyone is getting rich.  Also are you assuming that every single one of those farms is a livestock producer?  200,000 farms in Canada doesn't mean 200,000 hog/poultry/beef/alpaca/sheep/horse producers, many of those would be strictly grain farms, or how many of those are producing alternatives?  Check southern Alberta for beets, corn, sunflower, potato...So no, not every farm having "at least 1" barn.

My family was a mixed farm with black angus cattle and then my parents sold the grain farm and out of the commercial cattle a while ago, and my brother is continuing with strictly with perfecting his lines of black angus.  So I also have some farm experience, as half the posters are claiming, as if it makes any difference.  I also drove oilfield trucks and long haul grain, fertilizer and general freight from '94 through to 6 years ago, and ran a fleet of 30-40 trucks as daily operations manager for a handful of years.  So yes I have a little more knowledge about the operational side of this than some of the gum-flappers spouting off about people trying to keep the stock down without any knowledge of the processes involved getting the product from mine to APL.

Ok stats Can from 2011

Farms with 500,000$ In revenue and higher have actually gone up... well well well maybe CNZ is going after these types of farms and not your hill billy farm there Pbay.

Its simple! They are targeting hog and poultry farms, Ludicracy!!!!!! The 2 biggest money pits in livestock! People should research those sectors, how many barns shut down in a year. I could give you a list in my area. GL
