RE:RE:InterestingYou make a very astute and interesting point that all who are invested, or are considering, should mull over for confidence. It seems that an independent tester (Grafana) is verifying what Chen and his team produced themselves in a lab perhaps. The more you test the better so we are seeing a second test of battery performance, so it is kind of like going through a peer review to support a thesis. Therefore, likely the phase 2 pouch cell will likely go to Grafana and I would assume that, this pouch cell was likely what was constructed already by Chen and his team to demonstrate to Panasonic(?) and now Grafana is going to independently construct perhaps a similar version and test it?
The questions I have now are:
1. Did anyone from Panasonic see a demo comparison or pouch cell scale-up before the current battery tests were released (We don't know but can if we assume they did, it would explain why they had a change of heart to re-consider not doing business with SJL because of loose lips too early.............so perhaps, this most recent release gives us a clue as to why Panasonic is still 'in the game' with SJL which I pose in point #3 below........
2. If so, why is Panasonic requesting some material from SJL now if they knew of demo or battery tests......why not just use someone else's graphite? We may have the answer...... Is it because the graphene manipulation of graphite is demonstrating the advantage that would gives them the edge nd therefore any other custormer of Panasonics who might use it?
3. Is the request of material recently sent to Panasonic now for a Phase 3 test with a Tesla-like electrical car battery OR for home energy storage that they wish to try it for (within 8 weeks would give them enough time to get the Pouch cell results confirmed.......and for Panasonic to test the material that was sent to see independently themselves if it was viable for improved performance in an electric car battery that they are preparing for Tesla perhaps.....which if confirmed it is better, then that would give them enough time to get the ball rolling on the battery for next Gen cars that they are making OR for energy storage battery for the Solar City project because there is a mention of Energy storage.) Perhaps this is the end game of Panasonic who is a partner with Tesla for Solar City:

Now scroll down to the bottom of this company report by Tesla in 2016 which outlines their goals and integration of Tesla and energy storage. Scoll to the conclusion section and you will find this line by Tesla:
"
And by pairing storage with solar, we can capture a market for our batteries that goes way beyond the market for our cars, thus maximizing the scale and potential of the Gigafactory, where we are developing the world’s leading battery technology." Further (next paragraph), the goal is to have this battery as a multi-purpose battery? Wow
Tesla and SolarCity have a tremendous opportunity to create a vertically integrated sustainable energy company offering end-to-end clean energy products. Leveraging the core competencies of each company, consumers can look forward to deploying and consuming energy in an efficient and sustainable way, with SolarCity’s existing solar power systems and ultimately with a solar roof, a Powerwall 2 that maximizes the benefits of the combined system, and a Model S, Model X or Model 3, all while lowering costs and minimizing dependence on fossil fuels and the utility grid.
