RE:RE:RE:RE:Toronto house pricesDebt to service ratio is required on all home purchases.  These are not lender requirments but sector requirements.  50% debt to service ratio is the MAXIMUM by LAW that you can lend to.  That also includes all other possible monthly payments.  They max your cc's and add minimum monthly payments and add vehicle payments.

 Now I agree with low interest rates this can cause a long term issue with rising interest rates but without a huge drop in employment
