Of course much sounds like "MBA marketing words", but you should not forget that Boynton is on the job for only four weeks. For a complete stategic review he needs many months. I liked what he said about "deconstructing the company" and that there are no "sacred cows" (Globe & Mail). This could also mean "unlocking value" for the shareholders. From such a good financial debt-free foundation there is really the chance to make a significant transformation, if Boynton has the mandate from the five families. As said before, the families did not sell to Watsa, so they expect that there could be more value if unlocked on their own (by agent Boynton).
The numbers for the first quarter were on the low end, but not extremely surprising to me (1st quarter is always the weakest). Verticalscope remains very solid and is worth more than double the current market cap. Is this logically consistent? Is Mr. Market right? I remain optimistic in the longterm prospect for the shareholders. Yesterday's share price reaction is only a short term thing. The value is there, it only has to be unlocked...
