As of today, there are cannabis for one or another cannabis on prescription - often in the form of dried flowers: marijuana. And not even so little. There will be patients whose needs are above the now defined limit, but for many the upper limit will be acceptable: 100 grams of cannabis may now be prescribed by German doctors per patient and month. Exceptions will also be possible.
The main active ingredients of cannabis therapies are, of course, the cannabinoids tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). A total of 14 different cannabis flowers or granules are available from these, all of which have different THC and CBD values. You can see this in the table below. The doctors can also prescribe mixtures of the different blossoms up to the maximum limit, for example, either 100 grams Penelope or 50 grams Penelope, 25 grams Argyle and 25 grams Bedrocan.
The medicinal cannabis flowers are currently supplied by the company Bedrocan BV (cannabis from the Netherlands), MedCann GmbH and Peace Naturals (both cannabis from Canada). All varieties can be obtained from Pedianos GmbH, while the varieties from Bedrocan can also be obtained from Fagron GmbH & Co. KG.
It is foreseen that the cannabis blossoms according to the recipe proposals NRF 22.12. To 22.15. Before being handed over to the patients of the pharmacy already in a herbal mill. However, the physicians are not obliged to the so-called NRF formulations, so that an output of non-disintegrated cannabis flowers is also possible.
If the cannabis is to be inhaled, the use of a vaporizer is recommended. The Volcano Medic as well as the Mighty Medic represent the medical products currently certified for Germany.
In addition to cannabis in the form of flowers, marijuana, the German pharmacies also offer dronabinol (partially synthetic THC) in capsule and oil form as well as the finished medicinal drugs Sativex and Canames. It should also be possible to import medicines approved abroad, such as marinol.
Unfortunately, it is to be expected that the prices for pharmacy marijuana will rise again. The apothecary purchase price for five grams is about 60 euros, where a hundred percent additional for the pharmacy is added. If the cannabis is ground or otherwise processed by the pharmacy, further fees can be expected. However, a price battle on the manufacturer's side is to be expected, which will then eventually come to the customers (or health insurance).
