Johnny: Then There Are Taxes

Johnny: Then There Are TaxesSince you are so interested in accounting, that cuts IVN share of Kakula to around 25%. Here's how it works. The government already has 20%. The corporate tax rate at 30% is going up to 35%. So, the government is taking a further cut from both IVN and the Chinese. IVN share of Kakula drops by a third from 39.6% to around 26%. Same applies to the Chinese. Then there are royalties, another 2 or 3%, I forget which. It is possible IVN will get a tax holiday for an initial period of time, until CAPEX costs are recovered, but according to the Nov 18, 2016 news release: "
  • The DRC government has reaffirmed Kamoa Copper’s mineral tenements and has guaranteed that the Kamoa-Kakula Copper Project will not be subject to any taxes or duties other than those legally required by the applicable statutory and regulatory provisions for the life of the project.

In the end, the Congo government gets half. IVN gets a quarter, and so do the Chinese. How much is a quarter worth? That question is for you Johnny, because I know you're such a whiz at math.
