RE:RE:Anyone have any comment on why FCX PE is 60 and TECK is 9?I go hot and cold with "A" and "B" shares. This structire ensures that the "A" sthares (100 votes per share). can control the company from a minority position. In Canada this is no an uncommon arrangemen and literally keeps control in the hands of the "family"-in Teck's case- the Keevils).
The Keevils have parlayed a minor base metal discovery in northern Ontario into one of the largest , diversified miners in the world. The hand of a growth oriented board has delayed dividend increases  to fund growth. If you listen to the currnt president of Teck (Don Lindsay,) he has taken some risks that a lesser management would have had to cause termination of the president, but Teck's board has a long term investment view that made the investment in Fording Coal and lately Fort Hills, both of which put the company at risk  for a long term gain. The Fording  and other East Kootenay coal mines look prety good now and I am surer that Fort Hills will work out in the long run.
